Designing and developing the right components to maximise effective learning

Training Design and Delivery

We will help you to develop a course programme that reflects the key competences/outputs identified during the learning needs analysis.

It is about designing a course that is focused upon allowing the personnel to achieve the learning outcomes, which will be context specific, and will be built through an understanding of the learning culture of the organisation.

Course design for us is not just about designing formal interventions, but also looks at designing broader programmes, looking at blended solutions that include semi-formal interventions such as coaching sessions, secondments, working on projects, or peer to peer coaching.

Top Tips

Here are some top tips that we hope will help you if you are desigin courses or currently outsourcing the programme.

Make sure the course is directly related to the, and reflects the organisational context.  Even if the course is outsourced, the evidence and examples used during the course should be organisational specific.

If you are outsourcing your course design make sure you agree on the what you will get in terms of materials.  As a minimum you should be provided with instructional specifications for each of the high level learning objectives and an assessment strategy.  Other considerations should be given to a Course Handbook providing copies of the course aims, objectives, instructional specifications, assessments, lesson plans, and student handouts (if applicable).  This can of course be a soft copy.

Remember to ensure you keep version control on all course material, as material can quickly get outdated.  Version control is particularly important if as an organisation you need to track what material students were taught, a key consideration for regulated industries.

We recommend that you run a pilot course in order to allow you to test and amend material.
